Spoil Yourself this Mothers Day

Need inspiration to treat yourself this Mother’s Day?
Have a Mother’s Day High Tea
"When tea becomes ritual, it takes its place at the heart of our ability to see greatness in small things.” — Muriel Barbery, French novelist
Afternoon tea and scones at grandma’s house has had a modern makeover, and now high teas with fancy cups and mouthwatering petit fours are very much in vogue. Muster some other deserving mums and take the opportunity to frock up during the day. Many venues now cater to special diets and, if you’re hankering for something stronger than Earl Grey, high teas accompanied by champagne (or even vodka) aren’t too hard to find.
To get the best from a High Tea, you’ll need to dress the part. Go to Rockmans, Noni B or Suzanne Grae to get the right outfit for the occasion.
“I believe in manicures. I believe in overdressing. I believe in primping at leisure and wearing lipstick.” — Audrey Hepburn, actor
Soothe tired muscles at a day spa, book in for that long-overdue hair cut or colour, or revel in the star treatment with a mani-pedi. It’s amazing how a fresh look or bit of extravagance can make you feel like a million dollars. If you can’t indulge on Mother’s Day, when can you?
To get some pampering, book yourself an appointment at iCare Massage, Christiane's or Pearl Nails.
Get away from it all
“When you get into a hotel room, you lock the door, and you know there is a secrecy, there is a luxury, there is fantasy. There is comfort.” — Diane von Furstenberg, fashion designer
Room service, sumptuous sheets, a fluffy robe, mini bar…you know what we’re talking about! You don’t even have to leave your city to delight in a lavish mini-break. Pack an overnight bag and simply check in, run a bubble bath, and spend a heavenly, guilt-free night curled up in bed watching bad TV. You know you want to…
You can’t go to a hotel without luggage. Get yourself a new set of bags at Strandbags.
Have a slumber party
“If I can, I love staying in pyjamas all day and watching movies and eating good food.” — Becky G, singer-songwriter
Who says you have to be the one to leave the house? If a little peace and quiet at home sounds like your idea of bliss, then make it happen. Or invite your besties over for an old-fashioned slumber party. Treat yourself to a posh new pair of pyjamas and cosy slippers, order food in and have a marathon of your favourite films.
For a slumber party, you need sleepwear. Get the latest fashion pyjamas at Sussan or Big W.
